Jade sighed as she dropped two quarters into the coin slide and closed the dryer door. She gently put pressure on the end of the slide and listened as the coins fell into the machine. Her trip out-city with Phase had done her a bit of good but now that he was gone again on "business" she felt lonlier than ever. "Business..." She let the word roll off her tongue with a hint of disdain. She'd always though they shared their lives so well. They had been best friends so long. She had told him everything about Max and Alex and the demon uprising and downfall...

She stood, back against the dryers staring down at her half empty basket, the clothes folded neatly to one side. Her boots slid slowly away from the wall of machines and her body inched closer to the ground. Halfway down she let herself drop with a barely audible "thud" as her ass hit the tile floor. The eyes that had always given her a stable view of the world were now teaming with tears. Her lips curled in around her teeth as she gnawed slightly on them and her eyes squinted then shut themselves to the world with the pain of another person in her life missing. At least this time there was a fond goodbye...

As she sat hunched on the floor she drew her knees in tight to her chest and rested her head on them spilling salted tears onto her faded jeans. She couldn't imagine going back to The Flat alone...

From the laundromat windows you would have seen a human walking towards the building, but infact Stryke wasn't a human, he was a demon. The only read giveaway was his bright green eyes that seemed to glow in dark environments.

Stryke had worked all day and into the night eager to finish the mural, as he promised by sunrise. His employer had given him the money first, and then asked Stryke to finish the mural by sunrise the next day.

Stryke walked into the building, the little bells on the door tinkling. He had his mind on the large wad of cash in his pocket from the mural he had just finished. *Mmmm... this is enough to last me a year or so* he thought to himself. He was still in his shabby painter's outfit covered in large blotches of pigment.

Heading through the laundromat towards the arcade, he noticed a figure slumped on the floor, back against the machines, quietly sobbing. Stryke wondered what he should do and stood there for a couple of minutes formulating a small plan in his head. Finally deciding, he slowly approached her and crouched down in front of her. "Miss, are you alright?" he asked quietly. His kind bright green eyes almost glowing under the shadows of his facial features.

Jade's eyes tore from the tile floor as she heard the voice above her. "Miss, are you alright?"

Her senses were off beat and her head was clouded but she still knew what this creature was. Demon. She couldn't tell how old it was but she also didn't sense any particular threatening vibes coming from it and at this point it could have killed her in an instant if it had wanted to. Her lips trembeled and she tried to speak but no words seemed to escape her throat. A small gasp was all she could offer and she burried her head back into her knees.

She sat there like that, head in her legs, tears streaming down silently with quiet sobs every so often for about a minute and a half before the buzzer on the machine behind her sounded. The events replayed in her mind and it all came to one point. Now.

Right now. Here she is, alone in the Pretzel, trying to relay her feelings to a demon. And Phase was no where to be seen. Of course, she didn't expect him to be. He had told her he was leaving. No reason... Just leaving. Had some things to take care of. How long would he be gone from her? How many times would she wake up and not knock on his bedroom door? Not make breakfast for two? Not prowl the streets at night searching for something lively and interesting to do with her best friend?

"He's gone..." She sobbed into her lap as the stranger stood over her. Once again, her eyes returned to her new companion as she stood to remove the clothing from the machine and she straightened herself. She wiped the tears from her eyes and turned to pull the laundry out. Jade just couldn't take it. Another loss and she was alone again. She should be so used to it by now. Being alone. And at one point she actually was. She cursed herself for ever letting herself get attache to Max and Alex and now even Phase.

The tears returned and she fell into the door of the machine, sobbing once again.

Stryke fell apart at the sight of the crying woman. He gave a light sigh and forgot all about his newly earned money. Walking up the the sobbing woman he placed a hand carefully on her shoulder. He heard her mention something about a person being gone, and Stryke assumed that she was talking about a freind or lover. She was still sobbing with her head in the dryer when he decided to say something.

"Is there anything I can do to help?" he asked her, his voice barely a whisper. Stryke's green eyes were almost glowing in the dim light and he wondered if she would be frightened if she figured out that he was a demon. *Well it's too late for that* he thought to himself, the corner of his mouth giving a small frown at the though.

Stryke quietly awaited an answer, his body clothed in a paint spattered hoodie and black denim overalls. His he stood about a foot away with hand rested on her shoulder, the only sound in the room was the sobbing of the woman infront of him and the buzzing of the florescent lights above them.

One last sob escaped Jade's lips and her body quivered with it. She knew sunrise was coming and she had to hurry and get back to the Complex. She sighed and slightly leaned into the stranger's hand as he plaed it on her shoulder. "I've got to get this laundry out and start heading home before..." She winced at what she was about to say and began to pull clothing out of the dryer and placing it into the basket. She glanced outside, saw that the rain had not yet let up, and wrapped a plastic bag around the clothing in her basket.

"I'm sorry... My name is Jade. I didn't mean to be so rude not introducing myself. I'm just... Well... It's a long and involved story and I've got to get home..."

((its wierd having to "catchup" on an RP with the different weather and all :o)

He felt her lean into his hand and it lightened the mood a little bit knowing that she was't going to start screaming and smacking him with the laundry basket. *Hah, now that would be a scene worth the $10,000 prize on that Funny Video Contest Website.* Stryke pictured himself being battered by the woman, the plastic laundry basket battering him to the floor.

He smiled as she turned around and introduced herself. "I'm sorry... My name is Jade. I didn't mean to be so rude not introducing myself. I'm just... Well... It's a long and involved story and I've got to get home..." she said. Stryke looked around and then looked back at Jade. "Where're you headed off too?" he asked her, his tone lighter than it was before, "Because if you live in the Complex I might as well come with you."

(OOC: This is a Joined post)

Jade glanced up at the person standing warmly in front of her. "I live in the Flat...." She said sedatedly. "I wouldn't mind the company if you are sure you didn't have other plans. I don't want to be a burden."

Stryke gave a warm smile and looked at Jade in the eyes. "So you're the one that lives in the Flat!" he exclaimed, "Wow, it's amazing that I'm acctually meeting the person who owns the flat." Stryke shook his head lightly then looked back up at Jade.

"Sorry im being rude, I know you told me your name but I didn't tell you mine. My name's Stryke." He figured that since he had his hand on her shoulder that he didn't need to shake her hand. "Anyways, nah I live in the complex too. I was going to splurge some money on the arcade, but I guess it'll be better if I don't" He grinned as he gave a small nudge signaling them to start moving.

She sighed a bit, relieved for the company to keep her mind at ease. She steadily pulled the door open and stepped out into the rain. The cold chilled her to the bone. Her senses were so open and yet so clouded. She froze in the door and shivered a bit. "It's way too cold out here for me tonight, Stryke..."

He looked around and saw the dreary clouds atop the towering stone structures which constructed Anroya City. "Hey look!" he pointed out, "Look over there past the Haunted Hollow! The clouds are starting to open up." A large sigh escaped from his mouth and a large plume of smoke eminated outwards into the moist morning air, evapourating into nothing. "Well standing here isn't going to do much for us." he said, coming a bit closer to her and placing his left arm over her shouder blades.

She hunched into him and drew her basket as close to herself as possible. And that is how Jade befriended the most unlikely creature for her to contact. A demon walked her home.
